City officials have issued the first “Code Blue” warning for residents this year as winter weather has finally arrived and the cold temperatures expected to continue dropping overnight.
“Code Blue's” goes into place when temperatures drop below 32 degrees overnight, which indicates that the temperatures could be dangerous for anyone outside in the cold. It also means anyone that is homeless can turn to a shelter for temporary housing for the night.
The city is encouraging people if they see anyone homeless out and in need to call 311 and you can request outreach assistance. Assistance can also be found on the 311 app.
Anyone in need of a shelter will not be denied during these winter conditions.
