Students who want to be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus will need to get their first dose by Monday.
The first day of school in New York City is Sept. 13 and the race to get children vaccinated is in full speed.
The Pfizer vaccine is the only coronavirus vaccine authorized to be given to kids and it takes five weeks to be fully vaccinated.
To ensure that doses are available for anyone returning to school, vaccination sites will be open today and tomorrow at 28 middle and high school Summer Rising sites.
Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that all schools in the city would return to in-person learning this fall with no remote option.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also says that students can return for in-person learning if coronavirus guidelines are followed like masking and social distancing.
The CDC says that children between the ages of 12 to 15 were at the lowest vaccination rate of any age group as of late July.
In New York City, only 17% of teenagers under 18 have had at least one dose of the vaccine.
