7h agoHundreds of thousands of residents will be getting free internet and basic cable under the expanded NYC Big Apple Connect program and a joint effort between the New York City Office of Technology and Innovation and Optimum.
The mayor announced the expansion Thursday. It comes following a pilot program in 2020 that tackled the digital divide in communities where families had no internet service or would share one computer for multiple generations.
City officials say 1 in 16 New Yorkers lives in public housing.
