Elizabeth Roman, a resident at the New York City Housing Authority St. Mary’s Houses, says she has had a gaping hole in her 7-year-old grandsons’ bedroom for months.
Roman says she filed NYCHA ticket complaint numbers dating back to July, and that on Saturday, NYCHA showed up to begin repairing the wall.
“I couldn’t have holidays at my house this year. I had to go to my kids’ house in Maryland because my house was horrible. It smelled so bad and it’s embarrassing,” said Roman.
In a statement, the New York City Housing Authority said, "NYCHA staff have visited the apartment, and repairs will begin today. Work will continue through the weekend and will be completed early this week.”
NYCHA also encouraged residents in need of assistance to call the Customer Contact Center at 718-707-7771.
