NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly says a shooting that wounded a 12-year-old boy Monday night was the result of a fight between two women.
According to Kelly, one of the women said she was going to "shoot the place up" and later returned to Walton Avenue and East 157th Street in a green 1999 Honda. He says a man she was driving got out of the car and fired shots, hitting the young boy in the left leg.
The boy underwent surgery at Harlem Hospital in Manhattan to save his leg, which was fractured by the bullet. A hospital spokesperson says he is in stable condition.
Police say they are looking for both the female driver and male shooter. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
