The NYPD says a 49-year-old and a 48-year-old man were involved in a knife fight at the Butler Apartments, just after 1 p.m. on Thursday.
Officials say a 49-year-old had multiple stab wounds to the face, and the 48-year-old had stab wounds to the neck.
Witnesses say both men were engaged in an argument for about 15 minutes in the entryway of 1408 Webster Ave. before they both revealed a knife and began stabbing one another.
Neighbors Anthony Santiago says he is in shock.
"This is all just terrible," said Santiagio. "I don't even want to go outside with my little sister; hearing something like that is just difficult to hear," he says.
Both men were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in critical condition and are said to be recovering for their injuries.
