The NYPD says that there have been three police-involved shootings and two incidents of officers firing their weapons, but not hitting anyone, since Christmas Eve.

The department says that on Christmas Eve, officers were called to a home in Crown Heights by a woman who said her daughter's boyfriend was going to come into their home and fire a gun.

Arriving officers began talking to the daughter when 20-year-old William Moss showed up - and started shooting, officials say. Moss hit a 27-year-old NYPD officer in the back.

The police commissioner says his bulletproof vest saved his life. Moss was chased down and taken into custody.

On Monday night, in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, officers say they got a 911 call that someone was carrying a gun.

Arriving officers say they found a different man who didn't match the description, but was holding a gun.

As they took him into custody, they say another man who did match the description rushed towards the officers, and according to the NYPD, is seen on body camera footage reaching for his waistband.

One of the officers fired two shots, hitting the man in the leg. He was taken to the hospital.

Police say it appears both men had had a prior argument.

Then, on Tuesday, 50-year-old Darlene Duda and her dog were attacked by a man with a machete in Brownsville.

Police say they were called to Dumont Avenue and Strauss Street after getting multiple 911 calls that a man was chasing people with a machete.

News 12 is told arriving officers told him to drop the weapon several times, but he instead charged at them. Police say an officer fired one shot, hitting the 18-year-old and killing him. Both the woman and her dog are expected to be OK.

In the Bronx around 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, police came upon a man with a gun near 176th Street and Southern Boulevard.

Police say an officer fired one shot, but didn't hit anyone. The man with the gun was arrested.

Around the same time, police say they were trying to do a traffic stop in Brooklyn, but the driver of that car instead backed up and hit one of the officers. The officer's partner fired one shot but no one was hit.

Police tell News 12 they are still searching for whoever was in that car. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
