Police say a man has died after he was hit by an NYPD van in Crown Heights Thursday.
Officers report there were two officers and four prisoners inside when the van struck a man.
The accident happened at around 8 p.m. The NYPD says the officers were driving along Eastern Parkway toward Schenectady Avenue when they hit a 53-year-old man who they say was standing in the median.
The victim's family still hasn't been notified so they're holding off on releasing his identity at this time. As for why he was in the street, if he was crossing or just standing there, police say that's still unclear.
At the time, officers say they were not responding to a call. None of the four prisoners in the van were injured.
