Detectives say officers responded shortly after 5 p.m. to 218 Brush St., between Grand Concourse and Anthony Street.
EMS took the infant to the hospital.
The baby had "old injuries that were concerning to doctors," according to sources.
Authorities say the baby's 45-year-old father called police.
How the baby was critically injured was not immediately known as of Saturday night.
A neighbor who did not want to be identified said they heard loud sounds.
“We hear a lot of arguing, people putting hands on each other and throwing themselves against," the neighbor told News 12.
