(AP) - Police say an ex-narcotics officer wanted in adouble shooting in Brooklyn is now in custody.
A police spokesman says 43-year-old Jerry Bowens was arrestedearly Monday morning after police officers spotted his car inStaten Island.
Police say Bowens is suspected of fatally shooting ex-girlfriend28-year-old Catherine Donofrio inside her friend's Brooklynapartment Sunday afternoon. The friend, Melissa Simmons, was grazedin the head by a bullet and shot in the arm. She was hospitalizedin stable condition.
Authorities say Bowens resigned last year after being chargedwith drug possession and other offenses after he and anotherofficer were accused of stealing cocaine and money to reward aninformant for tipping them off.
Bowens' lawyer, Edward Mandery, said Monday morning that he's"both shocked and saddened upon hearing the allegations."
