NYPD arrests woman for alleged Fort Greene hate crime

The incident took place on Nov. 7 when she approached the father before throwing the hot coffee on him.

Police arrested and charged a woman with a hate crime for throwing coffee on a man at a Fort Greene playground. 

Law enforcement officials say that on Nov. 7, 48-year-old Hadasa Karavanibozak, approached the victim and made anti-Islamic statements before throwing her cellphone and a cup of hot coffee at him. 

The father and his son did not sustain any injuries as a result of the incident. Karavanibozak now faces multiple charges, including hate crime assault, and harassment.

According to the Daily News, Karavanibozak turned herself in after seeing her face on wanted flyers.
