A Bronx man allegedly slammed his car into a crowd of people in Times Square just before noon Thursday, killing one and injuring 22.

Police say they arrested Richard Rojas, 26, at the scene.

The so-called Crossroads of the World became a crime scene shortly after Rojas allegedly sped the wrong way down Seventh Avenue and swerved onto the sidewalk and into almost two dozen pedestrians.

    

An 18-year-old woman died and 22 other victims -- four of them in critical condition and three with serious injuries -- were hospitalized as a result, according to authorities. The 13-year-old sister of the deceased young woman was among those injured.

Rojas allegedly hurtled down Seventh Avenue in a 2009 Honda sedan before pulling a U-turn at 42nd Street, hopping the curb and zipping more than three blocks on the sidewalk before slamming into a barrier at 45th Street.

Police describe Rojas as a Navy veteran with a history of drunken driving arrests in 2008 and 2015. After his arrest, police said the results came back negative for alcohol. The drug test was still pending Thursday evening.

Authorities have also ruled out terrorism in connection with the crime.
