Family, friends and the NYPD released balloons outside the 45th Precinct Saturday in honor of 15-year-old Lesandro "Junior" Guzman Feliz ahead of what would have been his 22nd birthday.
"Junior" was killed in a gang attack back in 2018.
Police tell News 12 the teen died just days after he signed up for the NYPD Explorers' program, a program for young people interested in careers in law enforcement.
"Junior's" mother, Leandra Feliz, says this Monday would have been her son's birthday. She doesn't want her son to be forgotten.
NYPD officials say "Junior" will always be a part of their family and they will always watch out for his family.
