Police say a 68-year-old MTA worker was attacked just after midnight Thursday at the Bergen Street subway station in Boerum Hill.

Police say the worker was cleaning the platform when the incident occurred.

They say the man who attacked the workers had a metal pipe. They say that after swinging it and missing, the suspect then punched the worker in the stomach and ran away. Police say the worker was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The attack comes after an MTA bus worker in Brooklyn was hit in the head with a wrench earlier this month.

It also comes after two separate incidents this month in The Bronx where people were injured on MTA buses involving a metal pipe.

NYPD statistics show transit felony assault is up in this area compared to this time last year. Last year there were 47 incidents and this year there have been 67, not including this latest attack.

Police encourage anyone who has information about the suspect to give them a call. No arrests have been made.
