Members of the NYPD are teaming up with members of the Royal Grenada Police Force to help victims of Hurricane Maria on the island of Dominica.
Dominica was one of the islands hit hardest by Maria, and many buildings there were damaged or completely destroyed.
Officers say they want to make sure the people of Dominica know that they are not alone as they go through the tough process of rebuilding.
"Sometimes when people are going through a hard time they feel like they're forgotten. We want them to know that they're not forgotten," says officer Cherry Ashby. "Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families and we do want the best for them. It's just the right thing to do."
Supplies collected through donations will be shipped to the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force.
