The NYPD released bodycam footage showing the moments a knife-wielding man was shot by an officer as he held his mother in a chokehold.

Police say officers responded to a 911 call at 2865 Crescent Ave. on Dec. 23. Upon arrival, they were met with a 19-year-old woman with slice wounds on her face.

Officers then entered the apartment, where they found 30-year-old Michael Dotel with his mother in a chokehold and a carving knife to her throat.

Police say the 45-year-old woman already had wounds on her neck from the knife. Dotel was shot in the head.

Both the 19-year-old woman and Dotel’s mother survived the incident.

A video of the shooting, which is graphic in nature and includes harsh language, was posted to the NYPD YouTube page.
