Police are asking for the public's help identifying a man wanted in connection with the shooting of a 16-year-old boy in Williamsbridge earlier this month.
The NYPD released new images on Friday of a man investigators say is wanted in connection with the May 18 shooting on East Gun Hill Road.
Police say the suspect has a tattoo on his arm and was last seen wearing a backpack and black pants.
According to investigators, the teen was struck in the arm. He was taken to Montefiore Einstein Hospital in stable condition.
Authorities have released few details about what led up to the shooting, and it remains unclear whether the suspect and victim knew each other.
Community members in the neighborhood said they were saddened to learn a teenager was involved in the violence.
"One thing we gotta get better with is with the youth. Because when I hear youth, I think future and the future is supposed to be bright," said Darryl Aikins, a community member.
Tyquan Johnson said more resources are needed for young people in the community.
"I really just feel like our community needs to do better. We need more protection... Think more youth programs, whether it's music or computers," Johnson said.
Another resident, Daquaion Lewis, echoed that sentiment.
"We gotta do better as a people as a whole," Lewis said.
Police are urging anyone who recognizes the man in the released images to contact the NYPD.
