Police released photos of a gray Nissan Rogue that they say four people used to carry out a carjacking on April 25 in
Pelham Bay.
Investigators said four people were inside the car when it pulled up to 1311 Westchester Road on Thursday.
According to police, one person got out of the vehicle and attempted to steal an Infinity parked on the side of the road. Police also released a photo of that suspect.
Surveillance video obtained by News 12 shows the 32-year-old owner of the parked vehicle attempt to stop the carjacking.
Video then shows the car speed off while the owner of the vehicle is holding onto the driver's side door.
The video shows the car driving recklessly for multiple blocks until it ultimately crashed into a parked vehicle on Wilkinson Avenue.
Police said the 32-year-old victim sustained severe injuries to his head and body.
Sources tell News 12 the man needed a
leg amputation and remains in critical condition.
The driver took off in the victim's vehicle. It was later found abandoned on the Hutchinson River Parkway.
Councilmember Kristy Marmorato took to social media to express her outrage of the incident.
In a statement, she expressed the need for more policing in the 45th Precinct.
“We are down 19 officers in the 45th Precinct alone. This is unacceptable. We need more cops,” said the councilmember.
Police said they are still on the search for the four individuals in connection to this incident.
