A manhunt is underway after a passenger was stabbed in the neck on board a subway Thursday night in Brownsville, according to the NYPD.
Police say a man in his 30s began to argue with the 35-year-old male victim on board a southbound 3 train at around 10 p.m. What was first verbal then turned physical, officers say the suspect stabbed the 35-year-old man in the neck and hopped off the train at the Saratoga Avenue station.
The victim is recovering at Brookdale Hospital while the search for the suspect continues. It's unclear if the two men knew each other prior to the incident.
This all comes as the NYPD says transit crime is actually trending downwards, dropping more than 5% since the start of the year, but riders are still on edge.
"It's very bad. It can happen to anyone. It can happen to me because I catch the train in the night to go to work," says subway rider Sharon Davis.
