Police say a 17-year-old is in stable condition at Brookdale Hospital after being shot Sunday morning in the ankle outside of a high school at 333 Thomas S Boyland Street in Brownsville.
Police confirmed that the suspect believed to be behind the attack remain at large.
Parents told News 12 that they were not notified of the shooting officially but found out when they saw a large police presence outside of the building.
Neighbors say it was alarming, and hope those behind the shooting are caught.
"It does happen [often], I feel scared, police were everywhere, and I just [saw] people talking about what happened. It is sad" said neighbor Rita Thompson, whose niece attends the elementary school.
