A film graduate student at NYU Tisch School of the Arts is getting recognition for her work.
Aisha Ford, a fourth-year grad student, writes and directs films based on stories from her childhood.
Her film "Cherry Lemonade" was recently in the Tribeca Film Festival and Roxbury International Film Festival.
"'Cherry Lemonade' was developed by this organization titled Women in Media, where they chose three other filmmakers to come along and develop their shorts. When we went to L.A., we got a chance to work together. We looked for great talent, we looked for crew and we found some great locations, and it all came as one and I am really like proud of the project," Ford said.
"Cherry Lemonade" focuses on the possible dangers of a young girl venturing out on her own.
The film was also selected for another film festival happening in July.
