Officials: 17-year-old charged in connection with Newark shooting that wounded 9

A briefing by police, as well as Mayor Ras Baraka, is expected this morning on a shooting Thursday night in Newark that wounded nine people.

A 17-year-old male from Newark has been charged in a shooting that left nine people wounded in the city.
The investigation that followed determined that the suspects used two stolen vehicles, both of which have been recovered. The shooting occurred on Clinton Place.
Police officials and Mayor Ras Baraka announced the charges during a news conference on Monday morning.
“It appears the shooting was the result of two groups in a dispute. One from Goodwin and Shepherd , the other of the 500 block of Elizabeth Avenue," Baraka said.
The 17-year-old is being charged with receiving stolen property related to one of the vehicles. His name has not been released.
All nine victims are in stable condition according to officials.
