Officials have secured $14 million to transform the asphalt lot at McCarren Park.
News 12 was told that with flooding on the rise, the lot will create the drainage that Greenpoint needs to prevent catastrophic flooding.
The money was secured by Brooklyn officials, including Sen. Kristen Gonzalez and Council member Lincoln Restler.
They say the asphalt lot will be replaced by new green infrastructure as one of the biggest retrofit Parks projects.
