Officials say preliminary tests on a Bronx child who was taken to the hospital with possible Ebola symptoms have come back negative.
According to health officials, the 5-year-old's mother called 911 Sunday night after she took her son's temperature and said he had a fever.
Officials say that when health care workers took his temperature, it came back normal. They say it wasn't until Monday morning that the 5-year-old's temperature spiked while he was under observation at the hospital.
Officials say the boy did not go to school since returning to the U.S.
The 5-year-old was tested at the same hospital that is treating Dr. Craig Spencer, the first person to be diagnosed with Ebola in New York City.
Officials say that out of an abundance of caution, they will continue to test the 5-year-old to ensure that he is cleared.
