The amusement district is busier than ever, and city officials have plans to restore the F train express service to Coney Island to ensure its continued success.
Mayor Bill de Blasio and Gov. Andrew Cuomo have already agreed to fund the MTA for the next four years, although that does not necessarily mean changes for the F train.
An MTA spokesperson says the agency is studying express F train service in Brooklyn. However, the spokesperson says the service change would be difficult to implement since the highest ridership on the "F is at local stations, and express trains would have to merge at Jay Street into local tracks that are already at capacity."
The renovations, should they occur, will be one of the many advancements Coney Island is making during its renaissance.
Businesses have begun to sprout at the location. A Wahlburgers, a burger franchise owned by actors Mark and Donnie Wahlberg, recently opened in the area. A hotel also saw its grand opening - the first to open in the area in decades.
City Councilman Mark Treyger says that with the influx of people visiting Coney Island, the renovation is necessary.
Local business owners say the F train renovations will help ensure that their employees get to work on time.
