Police have released new video of the person of interest in the fire that gutted a multi-family home on Fairfield Avenue early Thursday morning.
Local and state police are investigating this as a possible arson case.
"The origin appears to be on the outside of the structure, and we are concerned about the location of the fire during the time of day," said Deputy Chief Matthew Palmer.
It happened around 5 a.m. Firefighters say by the time they were on the scene, the rear of the house was engulfed in flames.
Palmer says fire crews had to work quickly to put out the blaze before it could damage neighboring apartments.
Officials say another fire threatened a structure two blocks away around the same time but didn't cause any serious damage. They say they are "concerned" about the timing of the two fires.
A third fire happened in Stamford around 11 a.m. Thursday and damaged a two-story home on Selleck Street. Officials are also seeing if this fire is connected to the other two.
"Out of an abundance of caution, they're treating it as if it is…the investigation is just beginning," said Deputy Chief John Pritchard.
An unidentified person of interest is now being investigated in connection with Thursday’s Fairfield Avenue fire.
Pritchard says the Selleck Street blaze seems to have started in a similar way.
"Looks like it likely started on the outside of the house and made its way in," he said.
Officials also say, one firefighter suffered minor injuries.
