Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams is joining a new initiative to get residents more informed about where they live.

Real estate platform Localize.City and Adams teamed up to allow Brooklyn to research everything from a home's maintenance history or whether they live in a flood zone.

"Often people complain that they don't have information that is happening in their neighborhood, and when this app was brought to our attention, we said this is it. This is a real way of being up to date," says Adams.

Creators say they made the tool because people lacked access to information about their homes and neighborhoods.

"How much sunlight do you get? What's the transportation situation like today, and in the future going to be?" says Andrew Kalish, the head of strategic partnerships at Localize.City. "There isn't that one-stop shop for all of that, and for New Yorkers who have to deal with constant change, you can't keep up with it."

The tool is online and is free to use.
