Tensions flared at a meeting in Bed-Stuy about a proposed school merger. Parents say they were not given a warning about the move.
Parents of students from P.S. 308 say they are outraged after learning the school will soon merge with Upper 25. They say to make matters worse, their children will be getting a new principal.
They held a town forum to discuss the sweeping changes. They say the Department of Education has not been transparent.
Parents say another concern they have is long-term stability at leadership positions.
Officials say both principals from P.S. 308 and Upper 25 will have to apply to be the lone principal of the school following the merger.
A representative of the Department of Education told News 12 that it is committed to serving students and families of both schools during the merger.
The DOE tried to remove News 12 reporters from the meeting.
