The partner and boss of slain NYPD Detective Peter Figoski were both promoted this afternoon in a ceremony led by Police Commissioner Ray Kelly. Officer Glenn Estrada was promoted to detective in Brooklyn's 75th Precinct, the same title posthumously given to officer Peter Figoski after he was fatally shot Dec. 12 during a Cypress Hills apartment robbery. Estrada is credited with chasing down and arresting Lamont Pride, the man accused of firing at Figoski. Kelly also tapped Jeffrey Maddrey, the officers' boss, as deputy chief of the precinct. "As we celebrate these promotions, we hold in our hearts, in our prayers as well, Officer Peter Figoski," Kelly said. The scholarship set up for Figoski's four daughters has already raised nearly $1 million. City Council meets on tighter gun control laws5 suspects in murder of NYPD officer remain behind bars
