Greenpoint is getting even greener with the opening of a new plant subscription shop.
Horti is looking to build a community around horticulture.

After operating for two years from their homes as an online business, the official grand opening was held this past weekend.
Owners say the space is not a only a store, but a place to appreciate all things green.

“You can buy plants here, but we just want people to have a good time, hang out, read a book, drink some tea and have a conversation with the plants,” says Puneet Sabharwal, CEO and co-founder of Horti.

The company started as an online plant subscription service and exactly two years later, they finally opened their first brick and mortar location, serving as a showroom and leisure space for their subscribers.

“There’s kind of like a healthy feeling of being in this space. Other people I’ve met here are nice and friendly and there’s a community space,” says Sabharwal.

From the plant lined walls, to the nooks and crannies offering an escape, the owners say the goal is to encourage a cross pollination of ideas.

“Come and have conversations with each other, learn more about plants, have a space to work and be surrounded by more plants,” says Bryana Sortino, COO and co-founder of Horti.

Horti, which has subscribers from all over the country, aims to help customers curate their own collection of plants, but also teach them how to properly care for and enjoy their favorite flora.

The space is open to subscribers on weekdays and to the public on the weekends.
