Police: 21-year-old fatally shot outside Franklin Houses in the Bronx

Police say a 21-year-old man was found unresponsive by authorities and with a gunshot wound in his rear around 12:30 a.m. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say a man was fatally shot outside the Claremont Parkway Franklin Houses in the Bronx early this morning.
They say a 21-year-old man was found unresponsive by authorities and with a gunshot wound in his rear around 12:30 a.m. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
In the last two days, authorities have reported more than 16 people shot in the Bronx and Brooklyn, including some fatal. One of the victims was 5 years old.
State leaders have called gun violence a public health crisis. As part of the state budget, leaders have approved funding for hospital-based violence intervention programs and community-based violence interruption programs.
Authorities say they are still in search for the gunman of the 21-year-old man.
