Police: Body found at ferry terminal in Dumbo

They received a call about a man’s body floating in the water around 6:45 a.m.

Police say a body washed ashore at the Brooklyn ferry terminal this morning in Dumbo.

They received a call about a man’s body floating in the water around 6:45 a.m.

The body was taken out of the water and lifesaving measures were performed. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Witnesses say the body had a life preserver on upon discovery. Police sources told News 12 that the body also had a prosthetic leg.

The medical examiner’s office is now working to determine the cause of death.

Police have not released the victim’s identity pending notification of family.

As News 12 has reported, there was a fatal boat crash near Breezy Point this weekend with one person still missing.

Police have not confirmed a connection between the body recovered and the previous investigation.
