Police: Group of 5 brutally attack sleeping homeless men in Borough Park
One person is in critical condition after a group of men allegedly attacked four sleeping homeless men on a Borough Park block, police say.
Surveillance video shows five suspects approaching the homeless men on 60th Street, who range in age from 41 to 61 years old around 6:45 a.m. last Saturday.
They can be seen kicking, punching and throwing objects at the men. At one point, one of the victims was dragged further on the sidewalk where they continued the beating.
News 12 is told the group demanded money from the men, and in the end got away with just five dollars.
Two of the victims were taken to an area hospital to be treated, while two others initially refused medical attention. Hours later one of the victims, a 42-year-old man, complained of head pain and was taken to Lutheran Medical Center, where he is now in critical condition with severe head trauma.
Police are asking anyone who recognizes the suspects or has any information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
