The NYPD has arrested a man accused raping and robbing a woman while pretending to be a police officer.
Investigators say Jason Forgetta, also known as Jason Torres, met a 26-year-old woman on the streets of Sunset Park at around 2 a.m. Wednesday. They say he showed her his fake badge, told her he was a cop and she invited him up to her apartment.
Police say Forgetta raped the woman, stole her cellphone, money and purse, and then took off in a silver vehicle.
The woman reported the incident and was able to give a detailed description of her attacker, including the license plate of his car. She also identified him from pictures taken after his prior arrest.
Police apprehended Forgetta Friday on 17th Avenue in Bensonhurst. He was charged with sexual assault, robbery and criminal impersonation of an officer.
Forgetta has a criminal record that includes sexual assault, and is on the sex offender registry.
Detectives are asking any other possible victims who may recognize Forgetta to call them at 212-741-8401.
