Police: Man dead in police-involved shooting in Brownsville
Police say a man is dead following a police-involved shooting in Brownsville early Monday morning.
They say the shooting happened near 238 Grafton Ave. and that the suspect, who was wearing a mask, shot at a marked police car around 2:30 a.m.
The officers returned fire before the man fled on foot, officials say.
Police say about 30 minutes later, the same man tried breaking into a backyard on Howard Avenue when more shots rang out.
Officials say officers shot the suspect and took him into custody. He was transported to Brookdale Hospital where he later died.
Police say they recovered a firearm at the scene.
