Police are searching for a man they say robbed a Washington Mutual branch Saturday morning.
The bank, at 18 West Fordham Road, was robbed at about 10 a.m., according to police. Authorities later blocked off the branch's entrance, forcing customers to go to other locations for their banking.
Some customers say they fear the nation's dire economic situation could lead some to desperate measures.
The Seattle-based WaMu has also been caught in the financial turmoil after the FDIC seized it this past week and sold it to JPMorgan Chase for $1.9 billion.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
