A major crash off of Sunrise Highway in North Lindenhurst has some neighbors on edge.
Rebecca Charrette witnessed the crash and ran out to help the victims, but found the car destroyed with no one in it.
"I heard the boom, I came outside and saw a car mangled and two guys were running away," Charrettes says.
Police say Ronnell Thomas, 40, was driving a 2015 BMW sedan without a license.
They say Thomas was heading east on Sunrise Highway when his car crossed over the westbound lanes and veered off the road into the parking lot of a gas station.
The crash left a pole down, a fence destroyed and windows of the car smashed in.
No one was hurt, but the incident hit close to home for Charrette.
Her 29-year-old brother Gavin was killed when a car struck him while he was walking on the sidewalk.
She and other neighbors who live on the blocks are concerned about the safety of 45th Street.
"This corner is just dangerous," Charrette says.
Thomas will be arraigned at a later date.
He is facing several charges including leaving the scene of an incident with property damage, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and criminal trespass.
