Police say that the 23-year-old woman who was fatally shot by police this afternoon in East Flatbush was inadvertently struck.
Officials say they were pursuing a stolen vehicle that was being driven erratically and running red lights when it crashed at the intersection of East 38th Street and Church Avenue.
Investigators say the officers attempted to stop the woman from driving away, but during a scuffle, a shot was inadvertently fired from an officer's gun that hit the woman in the chest.
Police say the woman was transported to Kings County Hospital, where she died.
