While many people are huddling indoors to escape the blast of arctic weather, there's an outdoor food joint in Coney Island that's staying open for its customers.
At the Coney Shack on West Eighth Street near Surf Avenue, Chef Lawrence Mach was cooking up his burritos, hot dogs, quesadillas and beer-battered fish tacos despite the frigid weather.
The Coney Shack has been located at the corner for 2 1/2 years, and it's Asian-Mexican fusion recipes are so popular that customers come by even when the temperatures are extreme.
Yelp last year named the Coney Shack the best restaurant in Brooklyn. Mach says he's grateful that people enjoy his food so much, and he hopes to establish a restaurant in Brooklyn.
