The principal of an East New York school won't be reinstated, despite protests from the community.
Parents and students from J.H.S. 292 had rallied outside the school Tuesday after Gloria Williams-Nandan was escorted from the building the day before. They collected signatures demanding she be brought back.
However, the superintendent sent a letter home with students Thursday informing families that she would not be returning to the school. It says a search is underway for a replacement.
Members of the PTA claim Williams-Nandan was removed because she wouldn't sign a probationary extension agreement. She has been the school's interim principal for the past three years, and parents say she made a huge impact on the kids in that time.
News 12 Brooklyn reached out to the Department of Education for comment, but has not yet heard back.
