Protesters took to the streets again Wednesday to rally against an East Flatbush nail salon where a brawl broke out between customers and employees.
It happened last week inside a nail salon on Nostrand Avenue and Martense Street.
Two people, an employee and a customer, were charged in the brawl. Video that went viral shows people throwing punches and one person appearing to use what looks like a broomstick to repeatedly hit another woman. Christina Thomas, a customer involved in the fight, says she was getting her eyebrows and nails done with her grandmother at the time. She says she was unhappy with how her eyebrows came out, so she refused to pay. But one salon employee says the pair would not pay for any services they received that day.
Community members for days have been expressing outrage over the video.
Protesters are calling for the business to permanently shut down. For the second day in a row, they marched over to another salon on Nostrand Avenue and also called for that business to close.
Despite the protesters' convictions, that second salon maintains that it's not affiliated with the salon. Its owners even posted signs on the entrance to try and clear up the confusion. Still, protesters say they'll keep fighting for more answers. They're also gathering signatures for a petition that calls for the closure of both businesses.
Police say they're looking for the person who hurled a glass beer bottle at an officer during a protest at the salon Monday afternoon. They released a surveillance image of the person believed to be the culprit. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
