Elected officials in the Bronx and the rest of the city are calling for illegal gun arrests and seizures to be tracked using CompStat, the same system that tracks violent crimes. The lawmakers said Wednesday the move would help keep illegal guns off the streets and bring more emphasis to the effort.Under the plan, the NYPD would report the number of illegal guns seized by officers in each precinct. Officials also want the NYPD to report the number of arrests made for illegal gun sales in each precinct. Those supporting the plan say every shooting in the city should lead to two arrests; the shooter and the person who supplied the gun.
