The NYPD says it is closing monitoring houses of worship after a deadly synagogue shooting near San Diego, California.
While the NYPD says there is no imminent threat to the city, they had increased patrols and police presence at houses of worship across the city over the weekend.
News 12 is told the rabbi who was giving a sermon at Chabad Poway when the shots rang out has ties to Brooklyn.
Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein moved from Brooklyn to California in his 20s.
Rabbi Goldstein, as well as two others were hurt in the shooting. One person was fatally shot.
As police stand guard outside Chabad Lubovitch headquarters in Crown Heights, those worshipping say it's a sad reality of the times, but they won't live their lives in fear.
