WHAT TO KNOW

A disturbance passes just to New York City's east, which will spark a few rain showers overnight and into early Monday morning, primarily for the eastern parts of the state.

Once that clears out, Monday shapes up to be a beautiful, fair day with mostly sunny skies. Those comfortable temperatures in the lower 70s will hold, trending near or just below the seasonal normal. Looking ahead to Wednesday, the forecast trending as of Sunday evening dry after initially looking a bit rainy. Then, as the end of the week approaches, expect warmth and humidity to make a comeback Thursday through Saturday, with temperatures returning to the 80s.

Beach & Coastal Concerns:

A moderate risk of rip currents continues at area ocean beaches through Monday. Dangerous currents can develop even when surf conditions appear relatively calm. Swim only at guarded beaches and follow all lifeguard instructions.

In addition, the combination of a full moon and slightly elevated water levels may produce isolated pockets of minor coastal flooding around evening high tides through Sunday, especially in vulnerable shoreline and back-bay locations. Any flooding should be localized and minor.

Lastly, Monday, June 1 is the first official day of hurricane season. While there are no active tropical storms, it is a good time to review your hurricane plan.n.
