More than $5 million in public money has been paid out in the last six years for sexual harassment cases against state workers, according to New York records.

The Associated Press requested the data from the state Attorney General's Office after it was revealed that $103,000 in public funds was used to settle a harassment claim against Brooklyn Assemblyman Vito Lopez.

The records show that many cases involved payouts of hundreds of thousands of dollars each.
