The Red Cross is actively working to help more than 50 people find emergency housing after a six-alarm fire tore through 975 Walton Ave. in Melrose.Affected tenants are receiving food, water and temporary shelter at All Hollows Catholic High School, and the Red Cross has set up a reception center in the school's cafeteria where people can register for assistance.The Red Cross responds to about seven fires each day, but during the last heat wave, officials say they responded to more than 35 fires within 48 hours.
