A new report has found that Atlantic Avenue is one of the most dangerous routes for pedestrians in the tri-state area.
The Tri-State Transportation Campaign says it released the report this week to prod officials into designing more pedestrian-friendly streets.
The group says that nearly 150 pedestrians were killed in Brooklyn from 2005 to 2007. According to the report, eight of those deaths happened on Atlantic Avenue.
While conceding that more can still be done, the report did cite the city's Department of Transportation for efforts it has made to improve pedestrian safety, such as creating safe routes for seniors.
Also, as News 12 Brooklyn has previously reported, the DOT is planning several changes around the Atlantic Center to improve safety.
