A report released Wednesday by the New York Civil Liberties Union accuses the Civilian Complaint Review Board of failing to do its job.
The CCRB is responsible for investigating citizen complaints against police officers. Critics say the CCRB has been crippled by cops who refuse to cooperate and inefficient internal bureaucracy.
The NYCLU says the problems with the review board are growing worse and not enough residents even know of the board?s existence. The group also claims CCRB officials are slow to turn over critical documents.
CCRB officials are saying the report is ?unfair? judgment as they have been investigating an increased quantity of cases without sacrificing the quality of investigations.
