Polls opened for early voting Saturday morning as the race began for New York City's next mayor.

The Justice Sonia Sotomayor Community Center was just one of the many polling places were Bronx residents came to cast their ballots.

The Board of Elections tells News 12 that in total, around 15,400 New Yorkers came out to vote early, with 2,079 voters being from the Bronx.

For New Yorkers who were not able to make it out on Saturday, they still have a few more days to vote early as it will continue through Oct. 31.

It's also important to note that voters do not need to bring an identification to vote, unless they are first-time voters and did not register in person.

For early voting, there are 106 polling sites open and come Election Day, there will be more than 1,000 open.
