Dozens of residents were evacuated Tuesday due to elevated levels of carbon monoxide after a manhole explosion in Brighton Beach.
The explosion happened near 3011 Brighton 8th St. The fire department tells News 12 it all unfolded just before 11 a.m.
Residents say they heard a loud boom when it happened. There is no word on what caused the explosion, but some witnesses in the area say they believe it might be related to a construction site nearby.
Councilman Chaim Deutsch says his office was notified, and one of his staff members is assisting residents where needed.
